SMSC & British Values

SMSC stands for Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural education.

It is the non-academic development which we instil in all of our children at Pyrford. The aim of the SMSC curriculum is to prepare each child for life in modern Britain.

At Pyrford, SMSC themes and the British Values are regarded with a high profile. Every child is exposed to them by participating in weekly discussions and activities as part of the discrete PSHE curriculum. Such themes and values are also included within topics across all curriculum areas.

SMSC themes and the British Values are practised and embedded within the ethos of our school. They are also covered through extra activities such as experiential learning, school trips and clubs.

Pyrford is very proud to support equality and inclusion and is committed to ensuring we instil values of tolerance and respect for all within our school community.  We provide as many enriching experiences for children as we possibly can.  By providing experiences in addition to the taught curriculum, this enables us to prepare our pupils for the next part of their life journey.
