Our Golden Book Winners

Congratulations to our Golden Book winners
N SQUIRRELS - Ezra A who is really enjoying the traditional tales in nursery. Last week he made a teddy bear textured collage for Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and this week he made a house out of bricks for the Three Little Pigs. Last week we also made porridge for Goldilocks and Ezra went home and had a porridge tea party with his bears. Well done Ezra!
R BEECH - Reuben We have been junk modelling. After reading the story about the Three Little Pigs, Reuben decided to make a brick house to keep them safe. He decided to use the straw for the roof and a wooden door, thinking hard about how each material could be used. He also added pictures of the pigs and details inside. Reuben returned to his model throughout the week to improve it - well done!
R HAZEL - Santi who has responded enthusiastically to the story of the Three Little Pigs. He retold the story wonderfully using props and play dough and designed a house by thinking about the materials available and combining them.
1 OAK - Hannah C for the fantastic story she wrote to retell the key events from our new English text, The Queen’s Hat. Hannah used the text map to identify the key events and remembered her capital letters, finger spaces, capital letters for proper nouns and time conjunctions, which we have only just started learning about in Year 1. She has also showed great resilience in her writing since the start of term. Miss Daly especially loved her interesting fact that London is a capital city. Well done Hannah!
1 PINE - Ava for her exceptional effort across all subjects. She always follows our school rules of being Ready, Respectful and Safe, and gives 100% in everything she does. She is a wonderful role model for others in our class. Miss Dennis is really proud of her - well done Ava!
2 CEDAR - Bobby for working hard with his writing. He wrote a description of Bear using noun phrases and similes. He slowed down and made his writing neat. Keep it up Bobby!
2 HAWTHORN - Finley In History this week we acted out the Crimean War. Finley dressed as Florence Nightingale and even found a basket to act as his lamp. He followed the story brilliantly and showed a good understanding of the impact Florence had on nursing. Well done Finley!
3 ELM - Hassan This week we have been writing descriptions of a character from our text. Hassan described the character brilliantly using punctuated speech, conjunctions and well-chosen adjectives. Elvis was on Lizard Street bouncing his ball aggressively and angrily … “Get out of my way….” Elvis said frustratedly and loudly. Great work Hassan!
3 MAPLE - Aaryan In Maths this week we have been learning how to divide with remainders. We used base ten to build our numbers and also drew them. Aaryan worked so hard on this task and confidently completed task one and the challenge too. Well done to Aaryan for his fantastic Maths, keep it up!
4 ALDER - Jasmine During this week’s Science lesson we investigated how to make different pitches using two art straws. Jasmine took the investigation one step further and worked out how to play Mary had a Little Lamb on the pipes she made. We were very impressed by how she used clever thinking and linked her brilliant music ability to her investigation. Well done Jasmine!
4 LARCH - Mila We have loved watching Mila’s expressive acting as Red Riding Hood in our show rehearsals. She listens to directions and works so hard to practise and learn all her lines. We are particularly impressed by her courage in singing her beautiful solo!
5 ROWAN - Shifa for her excellent work in Science. She showed great curiosity and determination in her group investigation into materials, helping to test and identify the most effective insulator. Shifa also demonstrated outstanding teamwork. In addition, she took responsibility for tidying and organising resources, showing maturity and care for the learning environment. A fantastic example of hard work, cooperation and scientific thinking - well done Shifa!
5 WILLOW - Ioan Year 5 have been learning about the properties of materials and carried out an experiment to test which materials are the best insulators. Well done Ioan for showing excellent teamwork throughout and confidently sharing his ideas with the group. He also justified his predictions using what he already knew about materials, showing excellent scientific thinking - well done!
6 ASPEN - Amelie for her brilliant work in Science. Mrs Brockway was very impressed with the information poster she made about how the circulatory system transports nutrients and water around the body. What fantastic work. Well done Amelie!
6 HOLLY - Mia M for working very well in History and making a positive contribution throughout. She added some thoughtful and relevant points during the discussion and worked effectively as part of a group. Mia particularly impressed with her comparison of democracy in Ancient Greece and modern-day Britain. She presented her work neatly and clearly, including the key features of each system and showing a good level of understanding. Mia worked hard and should be proud of her efforts. Well done.
6 LAUREL - Lucy for her fantastic work in Art. We have been drawing human eyes and learning how to create a realistic 3D eye by applying shading techniques, such as pressure control and blending, to represent depth, texture and light. Well done Lucy, keep up the great work!
