Why work in partnership?

The 2001 Education Bill states that it "aims to spread excellence and give schools the freedom and incentives they need to work in partnership and with other schools and the wider education service to enable every pupil's talents to be developed to the full."

The Shine partnership aims to lead the way in demonstrating how schools can work together for the benefit of both the pupils and the local community.

As developed funding gives schools greater responsibility and choice in how to use their budgets to the greatest effect, this cluster of schools is endeavouring to get the most cost-effective and efficient support from the education services. By working in partnership we hope to reduce bureaucracy and facilitate easier communication between schools, families and the support staff.

The initiative is being welcomed by the education services.

The project has received initial funding from Surrey County Council's Education Development Fund. In the longer term, the savings generated by working in partnership will more than compensate for the cost of co-ordinating the cluster
