Rowan, Willow & Cherry - Year 5
Upper KS2 Phase Leader
Children should come to school prepared for the day. This means having the correct uniform and PE kits all clearly named.
Children should bring with them:
- Black handwriting pens (not biro)
- Water bottle
- Healthy snack (fruit)
- Reading book and Reading Record
Please make sure during the winter months that your child comes to school with a warm, waterproof coat and in summer months has plenty of water, sun cream and a hat.
Homework is an extension of the children's learning and therefore standards need to remain as they would in the classroom. Literacy needs to be completed in a black pen and Numeracy in pencil. Please use the appropriate paper which can be taken from school and should be returned in a reasonable state - a plastic homework wallet would protect it well.
Times tables and related division facts will be sent home each Monday and the children will be tested on these each Friday.
Literacy homework will go home on a Wednesday and is due in on a Friday.
Numeracy homework will go home on a Friday and is due in on the Monday.
In class we follow a spelling scheme called 'Big Spelling'. The children complete a number of activities throughout the week learning a list of 10 or 15 words and will be tested on these on a Friday. The children move through the lists at their own pace and will sometimes need longer on a specific list. These are all done in school time and spellings do not get sent home. However, there are year group specific lists available if you wish to practise these at home with your children. The link below will take you to them (scroll down towards the very end of the list)
